As I finished the final month of The Daily Fischer in 2013, I was faced with the decision of continuing that blog and giving myself the arbitrary goal of writing a new story each day, or coming up with some other writing challenge for the new year. Ultimately I decided against continuing with the daily blog. I was exhausted, I was tired of the deadlines, and I wanted to try something new. I wanted to write longer, more developed stories, with deeper characters and larger scope of theme and content. And I really wanted to give myself more time to write and revise these stories.
The Weekly Fischer shares many of the same concepts with The Daily Fischer. I still strive to set aside spare time to write every day. This is still about making myself write, whether I want to or not, whether I have an idea or not. But this time, I don't have to post it at the end of the day. This time, I can take the time to work out more of the kinks. I still have the public pressure of posting the stories and potentially failing and missing a deadline. Stories will come from as many styles and genres as I can think of, and this will still be done in my spare time, just over 7 nights instead of 1. And I will still move on to the next story, the next week and the next deadline.
Welcome to The Weekly Fischer. 52 stories in 52 weeks.
